3.   Continue to read each night....
     Each student has a dark blue duotang in which they list the levelled books they bring home to read.                Exchange of these books is usually on Thursday. ... so once a week the class gets to choose a new book            for home reading. Students have been asked to read and then reread these books to further develop         vocabulary and fluency.   Also, students can read to a younger brother or sister.  
      As you are reading, identify the title, characters, setting, problem, events and solution in the story.


Spelling Words  
 Plurals..  words ending in letter "y"
If a vowel comes just before "Y", add "s".
If a consonant comes before "Y", change the "y" to "i" and add "es".

Making a Plan,  
Using an Organizer,  PBHE Chart that describes the characteristics of a pet.
   Basically the chart develops the use of adjectives, verbs, adverbs (ly words) and names of places....

Writing a rough draft, referring to the ideas brainstormed as a class, each student developed their own descriptive writing.
Revising and Editing the rough draft: (A huge focus in class)   Chunking of similar ideas together to form a  paragraph;
Including enough detail;   Changing the order of sentences;  Writing longer sentences by using conjunctions; Using resources to further develop descriptive vocabulary, Using capitals and periods correctly.
Writing the Final Draft.....word processing.....
Many have completed and shared their writing.

Creative Writing
We have been practising writing paragraphs using the following model.  
It encourages students to vary the sentence length and pattern.                            
Topic of your choice_________________
Sentence 1:        noun, descriptive phrase, predicate (action or non action verb)      
Sentence 2:       agreeing pronoun (he, she, it, they, we, you)
Sentence 3:       begins with  When
Sentence 4:       quotation "              "
Sentence 5:       summary sentence, may  be an exclamation

         Seashells, which come in many shapes and sizes, are found in a variety of colours.  
They are fun to collect.  When I go to the beach, I usually come home with more shells
for my collection.  “What beautiful shells,” says Mother.  I really enjoy my hobby!
