Welcome to an exciting and challenging new school year and welcome to CLASS 5-2!  I hope you and your families enjoyed a restful summer and are excited as I am for the new adventures of Grade 5!  It will be my pleasure to teach your child and I look forward to this school year.

The upcoming months will be eventful to say the least, but will also be very challenging.  My goal is to make this year a positive learning experience for our class.  I look forward to helping your child learn more about Math, Language Arts, Science, Social Science and Physical Education and help spark their curiosity and love of learning as well as help them meet their personal goals.

Students in grade five are required to be responsible for their own learning.  They must be prepared for class, with homework complete.  They must make the choice to stay in for recess or after school for extra help.  They must complete their agendas on a daily basis in order to complete projects and assignments by the due dates.  They must participate appropriately in class.

Agendas:
It is an expectation that all students use an agenda to organize their homework.  The agenda is also a great way to become aware of your child’s homework requirement for the evening.  The agenda can also be used as a communication tool if you have any questions and/or comments regarding your child or their homework.

Homework/Assignments/Tests & Quizzes:
It is essential that each student be self-motivated and responsible for completing all assigned work both in class and at home.  Homework assignments will be checked regularly for completeness, understanding and neatness.  To encourage strong work habits and organization skills, students should set aside some time each night for homework.  This time may be used to complete unfinished work, review material covered in class, study for a test or read.  If your child has worked diligently at home but was not able to finish his/her homework, a note in your child’s agenda would be very helpful.

It is only when home and school work together, that your child can truly benefit from their education.

Let's be apart of the same team that will develop your child’s future!
