Learner Profile: This program is designed for grade 11 or 12 students who have the desire to learn experientially and are interested in leadership and the environment. ![]() Description of Program: The Bronte Creek Project is a unique, one semester, four-credit environmental leadership program for selected senior high school students, located at a beautiful site next to the Niagara Escarpment. Become part of a close-knit community, learn about environmental issues and challenge yourself on an adventure trip. The courses you will take in Bronte Creek are: CGR4M -Grade 12, Environment & Resource Management (University/College) IDP4U -Grade 12 Interdisciplinary Studies (Open) PAD40 -Grade 12 Healthy Active Living Education, Outdoor Activities (Open) EPS30 -Grade 11 English, Presentation & Speaking Skills (Open) Explore the Environment: Learn about environmental issues, leadership theory, ecology, local biodiversity and outdoor camping skills. Develop Group Skills: Meet new friends, gain confidence in yourself and discover a renewed passion for learning. Make a difference: Teach Earthkeepers - a dramatic, ecology program that educates elementary students about the systems of life on the planet. Get Outside: Learn to push your own limits on a 5-day adventure trip in Algonquin Park or Temagami. Student Fees: This 5-month program costs $550.00. The fees cover some nutritious lunches, learning materials, and a 5-day culminating activity adventure trip to Temagami or Algonquin Park. Exit Pathways: After completing the program, students would continue their studies at their home school or may be graduating and pursuing environmental studies at post secondary destinations. Students also have the opportunity to participate in the environmental SHSM offered by the HDSB.
