Learner Profile:
This program is designed for grade 10 students who have the desire to learn experientially in their community and enjoy being outdoors.
Description of Program:
Trailhead is a grade 10 program that focuses on adventure, exploring your community and developing leadership skills. It is a four-credit interdisciplinary program with an overall theme to develop a relationship with your community and the natural world. Our campus is located in north Burlington at Camp Sidrabene, a beautiful 55 acre natural setting. The program is based at the camp but will include numerous opportunities to learn and explore the neighbouring communities as well. Transportation to the program from all areas in Halton is provided.
This porgram is open to all Halton students/school bus transportation provided. Our campus is located at Camp Sidrabene, in north Burlington, a 55-acre natural setting with several buildings and unique indoor and outdoor classroom spaces
The courses you will take in Trailhead include:
ENG2D - Grade 10 English Academic (Compulsory)
GLC20/CHV20 - Career Studies/Civics Grade 10 (Compulsory)
PAD20 - Healthy Active Living, Grade 10 Open (Group 2 Compulsory)
IDP30 - Interdisciplinary Studies, Grade 11 Open (Elective)
Explore your Community: Learn about real issues in your community both inside and outside the classroom and find out how to get involved in your community.
Hands On Learning: The program focuses on experiential learning and projects that make a difference to the community.
Wilderness Travel: Get to know yourself and the environment as you push your own limits exploring the wilderness with your class.
Student Fees: This 5-month program costs $550.00. The fees cover nutritious lunches, learning materials, and adventure trips.

Exit Pathways:
After completing the program, students would continue their studies at their home school. In grades 11 or 12, students might want to consider taking the Bronte Creek Project and getting involved in the environmental SHSM offered by the HDSB
