Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Do I have to live in Halton to register?

You no longer have to be a Halton resident to attend our school.

  1. I don't have any records of my marks from high school. Can I still register?

Certainly. Arrange an appointment to see the Site Supervisor.

  1. I have been out of school for a while.  I already have my diploma and would like to go back to college. For admission I need Math or English. Can I still earn high school credits?

Call us to set up an appointment. There are many different courses, prerequisites, etc., which each college wants. Check your college admission requirements and enrol in the high school courses you need.

  1. I do not have my diploma but have taken night courses at college and some courses at work. Do these count?

Bring in proof of courses you have completed.  We will assess your individual situation and show you where you stand.

  1. I work full time. How can I find time to go to school?

Our Self-Reliant Program requires you to be here at least 6.5 hours a week, per course. The times you come are up to you. If you work during the day, come in the evenings (we are open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings). If you work afternoons, come in the mornings, etc.

  1. If this is not a classroom like I remember it, how does it work?

You have made the most important step - you are enrolling in our course. Our job is to guide you to success. You will work individually with your teacher, be given assignments and use our resources as you work in the Education Centre. If you need help, or do not understand something, just ASK your teacher for assistance.

  1. How do the courses compare to those offered in other High Schools and through the Independent Learning Centre?

Our courses meet the same Ministry of Education requirements as do these other courses and require the same amount of time and effort to complete.
