Students should be prepared to participate in a physical activity every day either in gym class or during Daily Physical Activity (DPA).  Gym classes will contain a 20 minute section of vigorous activity followed by various activities from the four major movement components (target, net/wall, striking/fielding, invasion/territory).  DPA will almost always be some type of vigorous activity for about 20 minutes and will most likely be completed by the students homeroom teacher.

What is Needed for Physical Education?
- running shoes at school everyday (for both class and D.P.A.)
- deodorant (non aerosol)
- shorts or sweat pants (not cut off jeans)
- t-shirt or sweat shirt
- sun screen and/or hat for outdoor activities
- a safe location for jewelry (teachers will not keep items during class; do not bring items of value to gym class)

Students in grade 8 will have three periods of Physical Education per week.  Although the schedule will vary depending on many factors, students can expect to have two physical periods per week and one health class per week.  Health class will usually be on the last day of the week the student has gym class.  Students are expected to have a notebook/binder, an agenda and a pencil for health class.
