Homework

Ontario Curriculum Guidelines state that in Grade 5 a student can expect to spend
25 to 50 minutes on homework per night.

***See individual class calendars for daily homework and quiz/test/project dates

Nightly Homework:

Review of addition facts, subtraction facts and times tables to 12 times 12 should be done nightly until they are mastered.

Practise responding to any type of reading in depth using a variety of reading strategies (e.g., making connections, asking questions, visualizing, inferring) - get away from just retelling.

Quiet reading for 20 to 30 minutes each night is expected.

Other homework - ( projects, review for tests, incomplete class work, Math workbook)

Phys. Ed. is on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Proper Gym attire includes a change of shorts or sweat pants, a T-shirt and running shoes with non-marking soles.
Slip-on runners, sandals or board shoes are not acceptable for safety reasons.
Jewellery should be removed and/or studs taped.
