General Information
MEMBERSHIP: Boys and girls in grade 7 to 12 can join.
ABILITY: You must be comfortable swimming in deep water (water over your head) and be able to swim the length of the pool (25 metres).
You do NOT have to swim all of the strokes properly. We will teach you what skills you need such as strokes, racing dives and turns.
COACH: Mr. Micheli, Ms Hodge, Mr. Lawson
PRACTICES: Tuesdays 3:00 – 4:00pm
Wednesdays 3:00 – 3:45pm
Fridays 3:00 – 4:00pm
Swimmers are to get changed and be on the pool deck for the start of practice. Aside from a bathing suit and a towel, swimming goggles are a good idea to have at practice.
COST: $90 includes pool rental and transportation to meets.
$45 fundraising committment (either pay this fee or volunteer 3 hours at a bingo)
$25 Athletic Banquet fee for students who did not play a Fall sport.
$65 girls team swim suit (optional)
$45 boys team swimsuit (optional)
$25 team swim cap and t-shirt (optional)
Those who are competing are required to have either a team swim cap or a team swim suit while racing.
Please pay by cash or by on-line cashless system by Friday, November 4, 2011. Paying by this date is a problem, please contact Mr. Micheli to make other arrangements.
BINGO: Instead of paying the $45 fundraising committment, parents or students aged 16 or over can volunteer at a bingo. If you have not submitted a form indicating the days and times you prefer to volunteer, please let Mr. Micheli know your preferences (or whether you would rather pay) so that we can try to have enough bingos for everyone who wants one.
MEETS: Swimmers must compete in two Halton meets before being allowed to compete at the Halton Championships in February.
Grade 7 & 8 students are not permitted to compete at the Halton Championships but are permitted to swim at some of the other meets.
