Dear Parents,

My name is Andy Steeds and I will be one of the fortunate individuals who will be teaching your son or daughter for the next nine and a half months. I am very excited to be entering my second year at Montclair and my fifth full year teaching but my first teaching grade 6 (Orchard Park, West Oak previously).

Here of some pieces of information that you may find helpful.

1. Email is my primary form of communication.

Please acknowledge that you have received this email and whether this is the best address for me to send you information.

My email is steedsa@hdsb.ca

2. Class Website

If you're reading this, you've found my web page.  I will be updating homework and information on the web page daily.

2. Student's Preparation

I will be regularly checking your child's in class work habits and homework completion.  For now, I am leaving it up to the students to record the homework in their agendas. If your son/daughter has more than one incomplete homework in a week a brief message will be sent to you via email.

3. Extra Help/ make up tests for students.

Extra help will be provided on a per need basis.  Once the year gets rolling, I will have set times that I will be available  but will stay in upon request.  In the past my past students have helped by providing tutoring after school.  I am looking to arrange one or two days of free tutoring for the months of September and October.  If your child achieves less than the ministry standard (70%) on a test or quiz you will be informed through a brief message via email. I will offer a makeup quiz for those students achieving less that 70% only if the student attends two consecutive extra help sessions.

To conclude I remind you of the "Meet the teacher night" later in September. I look forward to seeing everyone. Please feel free to contact me if any concerns should arise.

Sincerely,

Andy Steeds
