Halton Regional Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Inpatient Service |
The Child and Psychiatric Inpatient Unit located on 1 East in the Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital provides a ten-bed acute psychiatric unit for children and adolescents focusing on crisis intervention, assessment and acute stabilization. Following a brief hospitalization, patients are discharged with recommendations for follow-up care, based on individual needs, to community agencies, the family physician, a psychiatrist, or a specialized program.
Upon admission, family appointments will be arranged. Families are expected to attend scheduled meetings and Family Night to assist in their child's assessment.
During admission a multi-disciplinary team treats individuals.
Students must be assessed at their home hospital before accessing adolescent psychiatric services.
