Safe Video Camera Use
Communication Technology

  • The camera is signed out to you.  Keep it in your possession.  You are responsible for it.
  • Check the camera operation, storage media and battery condition before  leaving the classroom.
  • Stay on school property.  Avoid the cafeteria. Horseplay is not allowed.
  • Do not force anything:
-the battery only fits one way.
-wait for the video cassette door to open, do not force the door closed.
-do not twist the tripod mount off of the camera, use the thumbscrew.

  • Use the AC adaptor for your shoot where possible and practical, especially for studio work.
  • Recharge the battery after extended use – approx. 1 hour is a normal battery life
  • Use a tripod, single leg monopod, or steadi-cam for steady picture.  Panning and tilting are done with light pressure.  Do not carry the tripod with the handle.
  • When in doubt, read the appropriate section in the camera manual, or ask the teacher.
  • Work steadily. Carry your preproduction planning. Avoid rushing. Be aware of who and what is around you.
  • Be on time.  Follow your storyboard plans, shot lists and location sheets.  Produce notes on your plans as you work.
Return to the class on time.
Return the camera to the proper place after use and plug into the battery charger.

  • Do not leave the school property without written permission of your instructor and your parent/guardian.
  • Clearly label all tapes and DVD’s!!!.

I have read the above rules and understand them.    Signed _________________
